I sit here on Olympus, watching those men from Ithaca celebrating. They only won the Trojan War because Athena knocked me out with a bolder. As smile as I see Odysseus’ men ignoring him as the feast on the plunder from the people of Cicones. I bless the Ciconians the courage to attack Odysseus’ men. I laugh as I see them flee.

I wasn’t paying attention when Odysseus and his men went to the land of the Lotus-eaters, but I’m paying attention when they land on the Cyclops Island. I see Odysseus and twelve men enter Poseidon’s son, Polyphemus’ cave. I run and grab Poseidon and we watch what happens in the cave. Poseidon is disappointed Polyphemus didn’t follow the custom, but I laugh as I see Polyphemus eat two of the men. I love seeing their faces of terror. When Odysseus starts planning to escape, I bless him with courage to take out Polyphemus’ eye. When they are leaving the Cyclops Island, I curse Odysseus with sedition. As Odysseus is taunting the beast, his men are begging him to stop.

I ignore Odysseus until he arrives at the home of the Laestrygonians. I laugh as I see the cannibals destroy all of Odysseus’ ships and kill all the men except the ones on his ship.

He lands on Aeolus’ Island, Aeolus gives them a bag of winds, except the west wind that they need. Right when they see Ithaca I have one of the soldiers open the bag. They are blown right back to Aeolus’ Island. He scorns them and says the gods do not favor Odysseus and his men.

I smile as I see Odysseus land on Aeaea, home of the Circe the goddess of magic. I laugh as she turns all the men but Odysseus into pigs. Then I notice Circe is falling in love with Odysseus. I sigh and can tell this is the work of my consort Aphrodite. Circe turns all the swine back into men and tells Odysseus to travel to the Land of the Dead to talk to the prophet Tiresias. I bless him and his men manly courage to go there.

When Odysseus arrives at the Land of the Dead, I bless him with bravery to defend his blood sacrifice from the dead. I smile and am proud as I watch the man defend the sacrifice with such bravery and courage. Tiresias appears and I listen to the prophecy. I sigh because I will have to help them a lot if they want to get home.

Odysseus returns to Circe’s island. She warns him of the Sirens, Scylla, and Charydbis. He sails through the Sirens without a problem, but when he comes to Scylla and Charybdis, he and his men start losing courage. I bless them with courage to get through.

They land on the island of the Sun God’s cattle. I curse the men with mutiny. The killed and ate the cattle against Odysseus’ wishes.

I ignored him for quite awhile until I heard him ask my dear sister, Athena to help him. He doesn’t realize that the battle he will be facing is in my domain of war. Athena asks me to help her and him. I agree since Odysseus will be fighting in a head-on battle, my specialty. When the battle begins, I sit and think about if I should let Odysseus win. I decide that he would win, so I bless him with victory. When he wins, he sends a pray to Athena. I sigh. Everyone thinks it’s Athena, but I can help too. Oh well.
